Privacy Policy
This policy is operated by L FORD & J HENNELL & N LANE, the company behind sift. Last updated October 2026.
What we collect
- Account info: your email address, and, if you choose to add them, a username, display name, bio, and profile photo.
- Location: only used to sort nearby venues and to look up an address when you add a venue. It's requested when you use those specific features, not on launch, and isn't stored beyond what's needed to show that result.
- Content you submit: venue reviews and ratings, venues you add, and any messages you send us via Contact Us or App Feedback (which include your name and email).
- Push notifications: if you enable them, we store a delivery token tied to your account so we can send them. We don't collect any other information about your device.
How we use it
To run the app's core features (showing venues, your reviews, and your profile), to respond when you contact us, to send notifications you've opted into (like badge alerts), and to improve sift over time.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run sift, and only share what each one needs to do its job:
- Supabase -- hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Resend -- sends account emails (signup confirmation, password reset, notifications).
- Google Places API -- if you search for an address while adding a venue, that search text is sent to Google to look up matching places.
We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Your data, your control
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your account and its data at any time by contacting admin@sift.place. We'll action deletion requests promptly, except where we're required to retain something by law.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
Terms & Conditions
By creating an account you agree to the following:
- You'll provide accurate information and keep your account secure.
- Reviews and ratings you submit should reflect your genuine experience -- no fake reviews, harassment, or spam.
- You keep ownership of what you post, but you grant us a license to display it within sift so the app can function.
- We can suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms or misuse the service.
- sift is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
